Fundraising Committee
Members: Waylen Bray, Dave Turan, Diana Loucks, Sean Lynch
1. Brainstorm ideas for local
fundraising efforts for the project as a whole, but focusing on
fire tower as the first phase of project. (donation cans, sell
a step or landing, special events, letter writing campaign, etc.).
2. Talk to Stamford Historical Society or other local non-profit about
using them as a pass through for donations and to set up an account.

3. Gear up for Robinson-Broadhurst deadline in December. (Waylen/Helen)
4. Set up meeting with Don Bishop of O'Connor to discuss project. (Waylen/Helen)
5. Follow up with Phil of CWC regarding possible funding. (Waylen/Helen)
Outreach & Interpretation
Committee
Members: Waylen Bray, Don Dales, Dick Hinman, Dave Turan
1. Develop prototypes for
signs that could be installed in the Spring outlining project.
2. Develop proposed outline for interpretive signs & begin research
on content.
3. Work with local sign manufacturer/exhibit designer to get estimates
for fabrication.
4. Make presentation at the Stamford Central School to get youth involved
in project.
5. Make presentations at various community groups & organizations
to raise awareness.
6.Approach local colleges (Cooperstown?) for a student intern to help
work on interpretive signs.
Construction Committee
Members: Waylen Bray, Kevin Pryor, Walt Keller, Marty Podskoch
Fire Tower
1. Draft and adopt resolution
by Village Board agreeing to take ownership of tower. (Helen)
2. Start process to "surplus" tower with Paul Trotta of NYSDEC. (Waylen)
3. Begin outreach to FFLA and gear up for restoration in 2004 (i.e.
prepare materials list).
4. Approach local businesses for possible donation of materials.
5. Start nomination process for National Historic Lookout Register &
National Register of Historic Places. (Marty)
Observation Building
1. Follow up with Jim Kopp
re: firmer cost estimates for construction if done all at once.
2. Work with Jim to develop a list of emergency repairs that can be
done in the Spring (possibly by volunteers) to stabilize the building
to prevent further deterioration.
3. Outreach to SUNY Delhi and ONC BOCES construction trades technology
instructors to see about volunteer labor for emergency repairs/stabilization
work in 2004.
Park & Trails
1. Gear up for volunteer
work day and Spring clean-up in May of 2004.
2. Approach adjacent landowner regarding possible sale of property (Waylen).
3. Approach Shader re: permission to use trail over his property as
part of the project.
4. Make initial contact with groups and organizations that may be able
to provide volunteer labor (Summit Shock Correctional Facility, Youth
Leadership Academy, Boy Scouts, etc.
